Certified Medical Assistant
SUMMARY/OBJECTIVE:
This position provides clinical and administrative support to physicians and extenders. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications as directed by physician. In addition, the certified medical assistant may be assigned to a variety of administrative tasks. This positions is for our Legacy and McKinney, Tx locations.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES:
- Record patients’ medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in medical records
- Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
- Obtains and accurately documents patient vital signs and weight, takes brief history, past medical, family, and social history, current medications, allergies, and other pertinent historical information as appropriate
- Show patients to examination rooms and prepare them for the physician
- Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis as well as perform other route ancillary services
- Prepare and administer medication as directed by physician
- Explain treatment procedures, medication, or any other physician’s instructions to patient
- Connect with patient via DeepScribe via Telehealth platform
- Complete annual wellness visits and health risk assessment process according to policies and procedures
- Ensures compliance with all laws and regulations pertained to clinical equipment and testing
- Perform routine laboratory test and sample analyses
- Report lab results to physician and contacts patients regarding lab results based on physician’s direction
- Maintain logs and reports, lab equipment, controls, and calibrations
- Adheres to infection control/safety guidelines and patient confidentiality policies
- Ensures medical inventory are all stocked within exam room, nursing station and lab area
- Review prepopulated check-out sheets provided by front desk agent and ensure accuracy and makes any additional corrections prior to uploading into system
- Provide patient samples as indicated by provider and document onto Sample Medication Log

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
- Licensure: AAMA or NCMA (Needs to be current)
- 1-3 years’ experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant
- Basic Life Certification
