Dr. Aurif Abedi, M.D.

Dr. Aurif Abedi completed his medical education in Cairo, Egypt, where he also did a year of internship in different specialties of medicine. His training started in the USA at Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. After his initial training, he completed his Psychiatry Residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago.

With a passion for psychiatry and helping patients, he continued his education by completing his Fellowship at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. He is board-certified in both Adult and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry.

Before coming to Texas, Dr. Abedi worked in Michigan for the past 23 years. His experience at the Henry Ford Allegiance Memorial Hospital was broad, intense, but enriching, helping him gain much knowledge. During his time in Michigan, he also helped educate medical students and Residents.

Dr. Abedi believes taking care of patients is an honor and a privilege. His focus has always been caring for the patient as a whole and not just the diagnosis. He strongly believes in collaborative care because most of his experience has been in a collaborative environment. Finally, he will always listen to his patients deeply as he considers them the best teachers.

Dr. Abedi is blessed to be a father and a grandfather. Reading outside of his medical profession has always been one of his favorite hobbies. He also loves to travel and learn about other cultures in his free time.
