Caring For Patients For over 40 Years

Dr. Ronald Moomaw graduated from Ohio University Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1980. After college, he completed a combined civilian/ military residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Wright State University. Dr. Moomaw is Board Certified in Psychiatry with a lifetime certification but chose to recertify last year. He is also a fellow of the American College of Neurologists and Psychiatrists.

After his residency, he served as a major in the U.S. Air Force as a psychiatrist, qualified as a Flight Surgeon, and was assigned to Lackland Air Force Base/ Wilford Hall as a psychiatric residency teaching staff. While at Wilford Hall, he was the director of outpatient services, the alcohol and drug rehabilitation unit director, and the staff psychiatrist for an inpatient psychiatric ward.

He has opened a private practice, served as medical director of two freestanding psychiatric emergency rooms for more than eight years, developed an inpatient psychiatric unit at Doctors Hospital in Columbus, Ohio, and served eight years as the chief psychiatrist for the State of Ohio Department of Correction.

He recently provided outpatient care in the clinic setting for astronauts, preflight flight, flight, post-flight, annual follow-up, and any psychiatric issues with their families. In addition, he was the only psychological first responder for the first commercial crew launch from KSC (Space X Demo 2).

In his free time on the weekends, he moonlights, Fri-Sun, at Methodist Specialty and Transplant Hospital doing inpatient psychiatry for acute, severe, geriatric, and chemical dependency.
