Whitney Prater received her Associate of Science degree in Nursing at Panola College in Carthage, Texas, Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, and her Master of Science degree in Nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis, Missouri. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. The Texas Board of Nursing also recognizes Whitney as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse. She specializes in psychiatry across the lifespan.

Whitney has worked throughout North and East Texas for nearly a decade as a psychiatric nurse with experience in depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, PTSD, personality disorders, addiction, dementia, and crisis intervention. She also has an extensive history in forensic psychiatry.
