Dr. Mascarenhas is Board Certified in General Psychiatry and has been in private practice since 1982. He received his M.B., B.S., and M.D. degrees from the University of Bombay, India. He served a rotating internship at Goa Medical College and Hospital in Goa, India, and general psychiatry residencies at the University of the West Indies in Kingston, Jamaica, and the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). In addition, Dr. Mascarenhas was an instructor in Clinical Psychiatry at UAB, a staff psychiatrist at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry at Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, and Medical Director for Substance Abuse and Dual Diagnosis at St. Paul Medical Center, also in Dallas.
He is currently serving as Medical Director of Psychiatric Services at Methodist Richardson Regional Medical Center. Dr. Mascarenhas has a vast knowledge of the causes and effects of drug and alcohol addiction disorders and general psychiatric disorders. He provides an array of psychiatric services to patients, including ECT and TMS therapy.
