Dr. Robert Benigar received his medical degree from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in 1997 and continue his residency at the University of Mississippi in the Department of Psychiatry. He was elected Chief Resident and awarded the William Jaquith Award for the most outstanding senior in his final year of the program.
After finishing his residency program, he joined the staff at Methodist Richardson Medical Center and Seay Behavioral Health Center to work in the psychiatric inpatient setting. At the same time, he was building up his private practice as a partner with Metroplex Psychiatric Associates.

Dr. Benigar has been in practice for over 20 years and has a strong passion for helping patients in the path to recovery and remission. He enjoys working with adolescent and adult patients, with a particular focus in the treatment of depression and anxiety. Dr. Benigar is happily married and has a young son. Recreationally Dr. Benigar loves to play the guitar, which he has done since he was eight years old. He is also a car enthusiast with a passion for vintage and exotic cars, attending shows and events around the country.
